Email- START OF YEAR INFORMATION (Whole School)
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you and your children are enjoying a wonderful summer holiday.
School has been a hive of activity over the break. Alongside a major tidy-up (we are now on skip number five!), we’ve had essential work carried out on our fire alarm, kitchen, and water systems. You’ll also notice that our reception area has had a refresh. A huge thank you goes to Mr Moss for his hard work in making this possible.
There are more improvements on the way, and we look forward to sharing these with you in the coming weeks. In particular, we want to thank FOSM for their generous contributions, which are helping us continue to enhance our school—watch this space for more updates! It has also been inspiring to see so many teachers and staff in school preparing for the year ahead, which promises to be one of real growth for the school. Their dedication and commitment will ensure a fantastic and exciting year for your children, and we are proud to work alongside such a passionate team.
As Mrs Sillett and I have been preparing for September, we have been truly grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received and for the openness and honesty you’ve shown in conversations with us. Each week, we will send out a 'Friday Update' email to share key information and to highlight exciting developments taking place across the school. We also encourage you to connect with us—whether that’s catching us at the school gate, sending an email (cspeller@stmichaelscofe.com / lsillett@stmichaelscofe.com), or arranging a meeting in person via our PA, Mrs Bronze, as we would be happy to welcome you into school with a cup of tea or coffee.
Key Information
Returning to school
Children moving into Years 1–6 return on Tuesday 2nd September. Gates will open at the usual times.
School Dinners
Please view the school dinner menu for this half term here. Orders for next week should be placed no later than this Sunday. This half term, we will also be seeking your feedback, and that of children, on the menu and our catering service to help us shape provision for after half term.
PE Days
The PE timetable for this term will be shared early next week. Please note there will be no PE during the first week of term, with the first lessons beginning from the w.b. Monday 8th September. Children should come to school in their normal school uniform each day next week.
Key Dates
All important dates will be added to our redesigned school website (www.stmichaelscofe.com) under the Upcoming Events tab. Next week, we will also share a PDF version of the key dates for this term.
We are really looking forward to the year ahead and this exciting new chapter for the school, as we work closely with you and your children to make St Michael's the best place it can be, living out our Christian vision and values in all that we do. The new academic year can, understandably, be a time of anxiety for some children (and parents/carers!), so please do reach out to us if you need anything.
Thank you, as always, for your support of our school.
Kind regards,
Chris Speller & Louisa Sillett
Executive Headteacher & Head of School
