It has been so good to get all the children back together this week, especially as we have been able to gather in the Hall again for our daily act of Collective Worship – you may know this as assembly but please help to slowly change this vocabulary so that it more closely reflects our Christian status. It has been ingrained in all of us for so long this might take a while but there is a distinction to be made.
Seeing 360 children all back together after so long was a joyous moment on Thursday and it was a delight to hear them respond as if they had never been away. Y6 have taken on the early roles of setting the Hall up and delivering registers each day – simple tasks that have been missed because of the "Bubbles".
I've also been pleased to see the one-way system still working in the main; it is easier to have everyone moving in the same direction overall especially as our paths are not the widest. The one area in which we could maybe improve things a little is by the staffroom; now that Y5 have a class here there are likely more parents waiting. To ease this, parents who have children in Y2, Y4 and 5R – please wait on the playground allowing space for people to pass through but then if it would be easier to exit via the staffroom pathway, that might ease some congestion.
This lunchtime, I was thrilled to see first hand how the children played with each other outside, mixing with children of different ages and being unrestricted as to where they went. One or two were a little uncertain if they could cross the 'lines' which used to separate each "Bubble" but this was short lived. I also had the pleasure of being on the salad bar for Year 1 during the lunchtime and have to refer to their fantastic manners and use of full sentences to inform me what they wanted. The reason I was called in to help is that we were short-staffed and therefore if any of you are interested in joining our team of MDAs, and are free between 11:45 and 1:30, then please get in touch.
As it's been a short but good week, that's all for now. I'm sure there will be more to share next week.
